Lauchhau Church Plant: “Friedenskirche Lauchhau-Lauchäcker”
IBC is planting a German-speaking church in a neighborhood that is a ten minutes walk from Patch Barracks. Over three thousand people from lower to middle class backgrounds from all around the world lived there with no German-speaking church in the community. Since end of 2007, we have begun a weekly worship service (Sundays at 5pm in the new citizens house, Meluner Straße 12) in addition to the other ministries we offer there such as children & youth ministry and homework help twice a week. The founding pastor, Steffen Kahl, is in a 50% position supported by IBC and is assisted by Almut Steinberg, who is also in a 50% position, but is sponsored by the German Baptist Churches of the region. More information is available about the “Friedenskirche Lauchhau-Lauchäcker” (“Church of Peace Lauchhau-Lauchaecker”) on their
website.
Local Outreaches:
One of our core values is to share the Gospel of the Good News to the community we are a part of. To do this we offer classes on how to evangelize effectivly, do outreach events both at IBC and in other churches, and share the gospel each year at the local Christmas Market through homemade cookies, hot punch and a herd of sheep!
Global Outreach:
Not only are we concerned about our backyard, we also see the importance of sending missionaries to places our church cannot go. We sponsor missionaries and organizations that span the globe and are as diverse as the people who come each Sunday to IBC
