We want to welcome you to Stuttgart (
tourist info), and to International Baptist Church! If you are like most people who come to IBC, Stuttgart is not your hometown or where you plan to live out your life forever. Many things may have led you here; such as a new job or internship, a "permanent" change of station, studies, or marriage.
You may have wanted to come here, or you may have dreaded it, but whatever the circumstances that brought you here, we know that God was the One who really brought you to Stuttgart. We also know that He has great plans for you while you are here! Jeremiah 29:11 states that God "knows the plans I have for you..."
You being here is also why IBC exists: what other reason would God plant an English-speaking church in the middle of a German-speaking world? It was all a part of those plans only He knows that He has for you, and He prepared a place for you to grow in knowledge and in relationship with Him.

As a result it is considered by many to be the starting point of the worldwide automotive industry, and is referred to as "The cradle of the automobile". There are 2 castles in the city of Stuttgart. The first castle existed already in 950. In the 14th century , it became the residence of the Counts of Württemberg. Later it was rebuilt as a renaissance castle. In 1931 the castle was damaged by a fire and before it was reconstructed it was bombed in World War II. The reconstruction was finished in 1969. Today it's home to the state museum of Württemberg. The New Castle in Stuttgart is a building of the late Baroque style. From 1746 to 1797 and from 1805 to 1807, it served as residence of the kings of Württemberg. It is verging on the Old Castle in downtown Stuttgart.

Transportation in Stuttgart
Stuttgart has a large bus network and 2 rail systems, 1 light, known as the Stuttgart Stadtbahn or U-Bahn, and one rapid called S-Bahn. The Stadtbahn and buses are operated by the Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen (SSB). The Stuttgart S-Bahn operates on the rails of the national Deutsche Bahn (DB). Although the S-Bahn is operated by a subsidiary company of DB, rather than the SSB, both are part of the regional transport cooperative, the Verkehrs und Tarifverbund Stuttgart (VVS), which coordinates tickets and fares among all transportation.
