IBC at a glance:
IBC was founded in 1957 and has been greatly blessed by the Lord throughout its
history. IBC's body of believers is as diverse as it is fresh. Due to the large turnover rate of our members and regular attendees, every few years the church has a new look and feel. Only about 20% of the church remains long term. IBC is 45% American, 38% German and 10% African. Currently between 400 and 550 people attend IBC weekly, 90-120 are children, 70-90 are teens, and 300-350 are adults.
IBC provides a range of
ministries to fit the varying needs of our body of believers, some of which are:
Children:
The Children's Ministry at IBC is designed to make disciples of churched children as well as reach out to those who are not familiar with the Christian message. We do this through a variety of programs and utilize both the English and German languages to fulfill these calls. IBC currently sponsors Sunday School (called Kingdom Kids), AWANA, MOPs (Mothers of Prechoolers), and provides instruction about baptism, evangelism and music.
Youth:
Youth Ministries (called H2O: His to Own) is focused on discipling teenagers as they journey down the turmultuous road to adulthood. We offer Bible studies, counseling, prayer support and mentoring for youth with a leadership team dedicated to helping teens live lives of purity and integrity. In addition to Sunday School, H2O offers Sunday afternoon activities as well as occasional retreats. Some others ministries for Youth include support groups, a youth-led praise band, and lots of fun things to do in between.
20s and 30s:
IBC's Fusion ministry is a fun, dynamic group for Christians in their 20s and 30s. They meet regularly for worship and prayer, to study and discuss God's Word together and to share and learn from one another. As with all of IBC's ministries, they come from many different cultures and backgrounds - some are students, some are working, some are single, some are married - but they're united in their desire to live out their faith together.
Adults:
IBC is a church of diversity; its discipleship must meet the needs of people of many cultures, languages, and learning styles. As a result, we provide Bible studies, support groups, and other discipleship-based classes in a myriad of formats; small groups, traditional Sunday School classes, short-term studies, target groups, etc... We have classes taught in five languages to share God's word in the participant's native tongue. These include English, German, Spanish, Japanese and Korean.
Helping the body:
IBC seeks to help those in (and outside) our church who have needs that go beyond the realm of discipleship. We know that beside spiritual nourishment, many people need a helping hand from time to time as they go through life. Our CARE Ministry meets these kinds of needs by providing emotional, prayer, and physical support. We have a prayer team who calls every person who turns in a prayer request. We also try to help those whith clothing needs through the CARE closet as well as financial ones through a benevolence fund. We visit the sick and help where we can when someone can not accomplish their daily chores like shopping or cleaning. Finally, IBC provides pastoral and lay counseling to guide those who suffer from emotional hurts to wholeness through God's healing work.
Sharing the Good News:
Missions is an important part of IBC. We support both local and global outreaches through mission trips, evangelism outreaches, and by supporting missionaries from our congregation who travel to distant parts of the earth to reach people, cultures, and nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. IBC also supports our convention, the International Baptist Convention, through cooperative giving and by serving on IBC convention ministry teams. Our latest endeavour is planting a German-speaking church in a nearby community that has no local church to minister to the 3,000 people who live there.
